Installation of the steel framework for the walls and roof of the first phase of Ukraine’s largest potato processing plant has begun at the Biosens Industrial Park in the Cherkasy region.

Ukrainian company Dairy Global Experts plans to implement a $160 million project to build a high-tech cattle slaughtering and primary meat processing complex in the Cherkasy region. To finance the project, the company intends to attract $150 million in investment.

In June, Ukraine officially opened negotiations with the European Union under the first negotiating cluster, Fundamentals. There are hopes that all negotiating clusters will be opened by the end of the summer, including the one covering the agricultural sector — Cluster 5, which encompasses agricultural policy, food safety, and fisheries.

Agro Energy Group plans to build a deep-processing plant for yellow peas in the Kyiv region, with an annual processing capacity of 35,000 tonnes.

Ukraine should focus not on increasing the volume of agricultural products exported to the EU, but on producing value-added goods that can be exported beyond the EU and help feed global markets.

Milk processing volumes in Ukraine remained stable in 2025 at around 3.2 million tonnes. Consumption of dairy products also remained virtually unchanged at 209 kg per person.

The transition of Ukraine’s potato sector from a raw-material model to value creation through the development of industrial processing will significantly strengthen competitiveness, stabilize producers’ incomes, and facilitate integration into European and global markets.

The security situation and the location of the processing facilities on the left bank do not allow UkrOliya to embark on large investment projects. Instead, the company has chosen a strategy of increasing production efficiency and pursuing intensive development by improving processes at its existing production facilities.
