Ukraine’s Largest Potato Processing Plant to Launch in Cherkasy Region Next Year

Installation of the steel framework for the walls and roof of the first phase of Ukraine’s largest potato processing plant has begun at the Biosens Industrial Park in the Cherkasy region.
This was announced by Dmytro Kysylevskyi, Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development.
He noted that Ukraine currently imports 100% of its domestic demand for potato flour. The product is imported for use in the baking, confectionery, meat processing industries, as well as in the production of sauces and instant food mixes.
«However, starting next year, our country will not only meet its domestic demand but will also become an exporter of potato flour,» the parliamentarian said.
According to Dmytro Kysylevskyi, the 6,500-square-metre production building is being constructed using a high-strength bolted steel connection system, eliminating the need for on-site welding. The production equipment has already been delivered.
Investment in the first phase of the project, which will manufacture potato flour, amounts to UAH 960 million.
Production capacity of 25,000 tonnes per year is scheduled to come on stream in late 2026 or early 2027.
At the same time, construction of the second phase is scheduled to begin next year. It will produce French fries with an annual capacity of 60,000–150,000 tonnes. Investment in the second phase is estimated at UAH 2.5 billion.
The third phase, which will also manufacture French fries, will require approximately UAH 3 billion in investment.
In addition, the industrial park’s development plan includes the construction of a 20,000-tonne potato storage complex, a processing facility that will convert potato peel into protein and starch, as well as a greenhouse complex integrated with a combined heat and power (CHP) plant.
With support from state funding, the industrial park is currently expanding its access road and connecting the site to the natural gas network. In December 2025, the Ukrainian government allocated UAH 24.7 million for these projects under a 50:50 co-financing scheme.
A mandatory condition for receiving state funding is the construction of at least 5,000 square metres of industrial facilities within the industrial park and the attraction of at least two resident companies.
To accommodate future enterprises, the industrial park has already initiated an expansion of its territory from 29.6 hectares to 40 hectares. An additional 60-hectare site located nearby is being considered as a reserve area for future development.
