From August 1 to 18, Ukraine exported 900,000 tonnes of agricultural products. This represents 31% of the volume that could have been exported if there had been unrestricted access to the ports of Greater Odesa.

This was reported by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi during a meeting with journalists.

The largest decline in exports has been recorded in grains, as grain is the most difficult to transport given such expensive logistics. Under these conditions, it is actually unprofitable, except in certain exceptional cases, such as in border areas where products can be sold quickly. A total of 522,000 tonnes of grain was exported. This is only 20% of what we could have exported under conditions of unrestricted logistics.

He added that during the specified period, 163,000 tonnes of oilseeds, 128,000 tonnes of vegetable oils and 86,000 tonnes of meals were exported. The pace of oilseed exports is in line with the indicators, as alternative routes can, in fact, more or less accommodate oilseed shipments.

«The volume of oilseeds and their processed products in Ukraine amounts to 20 million tonnes. Of this, 17–18 million tonnes are usually exported. Under the current conditions, with logistics costs adding $50 per tonne, the economics of oilseeds and processed oilseed products remain either profitable or break-even,» Taras Vysotskyi said.
