Ukraine has fulfilled all the requirements for opening the agricultural chapters within the fifth cluster of negotiations on accession to the European Union and is currently awaiting a political decision.
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi said this at a briefing in Brussels, LIGA.net reports.
«In fact, in terms of the process, Ukraine has completed everything required to open the three agricultural chapters within the fifth cluster, and the screening has been completed. I personally participated in two of the chapters. All the information has been provided, the benchmarks have been received, and the implementation action plans have been submitted,» Vysotskyi emphasised.
The minister added that Ukraine is currently awaiting a political decision on opening the clusters. He stressed that, as of today, there are no outstanding requirements on Ukraine’s part.
At the same time, Taras Vysotskyi said he had no answer to the question of who is opposing the opening of the clusters, as the issue is being discussed as part of a broader political debate.
Two negotiation clusters have already been opened for Ukraine — Fundamentals and External Relations. Kyiv now faces a thorough review that will determine whether Ukraine can comply with European Union rules.
