The current situation with complicated logistics caused by the blockade of Black Sea ports has not had a critical impact on the autumn sowing campaign. However, the area under winter crops will still decline.
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi said this during his weekly briefing with journalists.
«The area under winter crops may decline by around 15% on average. For rapeseed, a slight decrease of 5–7% is expected, while for winter wheat it could reach 17%. Overall, the winter crop area will decline by up to 15%, no more,» Taras Vysotskyi noted.
According to him, rapeseed, which is the most resource-intensive winter crop, has effectively already been sown, while the remaining winter grain crops are not as resource-intensive, so the reduction will remain within the announced range.
Regarding the spring sowing campaign, Taras Vysotskyi said it is currently too early to comment. The first objective preliminary forecasts may become available in December, with more realistic estimates expected in February.

In August, vessels are no longer calling at the ports of Greater Odesa. From August 1 to 12, Ukraine exported 590 thousand tonnes of grain, which is 30% of the required volume. Currently, about 45% of agricultural exports are transported by rail, about 45% through the Danube region, and 10% by road.
