As of early July, Ukraine is actively utilizing tariff quotas for exports of agri-food products to the European Union.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) on Facebook.

The highest quota utilization rates have been recorded for apple juice, undenatured ethyl alcohol, natural honey, sugar, poultry products, eggs, and wheat.

Following the allocation of licences for the third quarter, 75% of the annual quota for fresh or frozen poultry meat has already been used, with 70,000 tonnes of products allocated among importers since the beginning of the year. The same allocation rate applies to quotas for eggs and egg products, as well as eggs in shell. At the same time, demand significantly exceeded the available volumes, meaning that importers received only a portion of the licences they had requested.

Under a separate quota for frozen poultry meat, only 14% of the annual volume has been allocated so far, indicating significant potential for further exports.

Among the quotas administered on a First Come – First Served basis, the apple juice quota is the closest to being fully exhausted, with 91.3% of its volume already used. Quotas for ethyl alcohol (63.7%), honey (60.9%), sugar (59.4%), sweet corn (58.6%), preserved tomatoes (48.1%), and starches and inulin (44.3%) are also being actively utilized.

During June, utilization increased most rapidly for the quotas on ethyl alcohol, sugar, and apple juice.

The Ukrainian Agribusiness Club notes that the high level of quota utilization indicates sustained demand for Ukrainian agri-food products on the EU market.
