Business Calls on Parliament to Temporarily Abolish Export Duties on Soybeans and Rapeseed

The Association has repeatedly drawn attention to the negative consequences of restrictions on soybean and rapeseed exports and emphasised the need to review the relevant decision, the EBA press service reports.

«Amid the full-scale war, farmers are already suffering significant financial losses due to the destruction and restriction of traditional sales channels, as well as rising costs of fuel, fertilisers and logistics. Under the current conditions, grain crops are often unprofitable for producers, while oilseeds remain almost the main source of support for the profitability of crop production,» the Association emphasises.

According to the business community, state policy should be aimed at preserving farmers’ incomes and supporting their ability to continue production during the war. The temporary abolition of the export duty would allow farmers to receive a higher price for their products and preserve the competitiveness of Ukraine’s agricultural sector.

«At the same time, unhindered and competitive exports of agricultural products will help preserve foreign exchange earnings, support the economy and the state budget, strengthen Ukraine’s position in global markets and ensure global food security,» experts explain.

Therefore, the EBA calls for Draft Law No. 15522 to be included on the agenda of the next plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada and adopted as a whole as soon as possible. The business community is convinced that supporting the export potential of agriculture should remain one of the priorities of state economic policy both during the war and in the post-war period.
