Ukrainian farmers, consultants, students and farm managers can now take the free online course «Sustainable Farming: Technologies, Profitability, Innovation», which brings together modern agricultural technologies, international expertise and practical solutions to improve production efficiency.
The training programme is available with open access on the Prometheus platform and consists of 7 modules and 24 video lectures. Each module includes educational materials, presentations, videos, additional resources and knowledge assessments. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a certificate.
The main goal of the programme is to provide farmers with practical tools for implementing sustainable farming and to help combine environmental responsibility with farm profitability.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including the impact of climate change on agricultural production, soil health and fertility, modern farming systems (No-till, Mini-till, Strip-till, organic, regenerative and biodynamic production), integrated soil and crop management, biological crop protection, the economics of sustainable farming, international experience, as well as digital monitoring tools using satellite technologies and UAVs.
A key feature of the programme is the combination of theoretical knowledge with practical case studies from Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Participants will learn how to assess soil conditions, choose optimal cultivation technologies, plan resource-efficient crop rotations, adapt farms to climate change and use modern digital solutions for management decision-making.
The course is delivered in Ukrainian with English subtitles and can be completed at a self-paced schedule.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the UK-Ukraine 100-Year Partnership, with the support of the UK Government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The programme was developed by the Royal Agricultural University (RAU, UK), Sumy National Agrarian University (SNAU, Ukraine) and the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH, Switzerland) in partnership with the NGO Green Agro Solutions.
