AgroFoodSummit: Turning Challenges into New Contracts and Opportunities

Over the past few weeks, the situation on the global grain market has deteriorated sharply. Due to attacks on port and shipping infrastructure, buyers have begun looking for alternatives to Black Sea wheat. Cargoes are being delayed and cancelled, while wheat futures are rising.
According to the latest FAO forecast, global cereal production in the 2026/27 season is expected to reach around 2.983 billion tonnes — one of the highest levels in history.
According to USDA’s August estimates for Ukraine for the 2026/27 marketing year:
- Corn: the harvest is expected at 31.8 million tonnes, with exports at 22 million tonnes.
- Wheat: the harvest is expected at 25.4 million tonnes, with exports at 13.5 million tonnes.
The Ukrainian Pulses and Soybean Association, which organises the AgroFoodSummit 2026 forum, notes that there is enough grain in the world, but the key question for the 2026/27 marketing year is not how much will be produced, but where the grain will come from, which route it will take, at what price, and who will be able to guarantee delivery.
«Türkiye is an ideal place for a grain discussion. It is simultaneously a Black Sea hub, a major producer, a grain importer and a global processing centre. In 2026, Türkiye expects a record wheat harvest. At the same time, the country continues to import significant volumes of agricultural raw materials for processing, while its flour milling industry is setting ambitious targets for flour exports,» the Ukrainian Pulses and Soybean Association notes.
Speakers from Ukraine, Türkiye, Bulgaria and Switzerland will address the following issues at AgroFoodSummit 2026:
- Black Sea region: will Ukraine, russia, Romania and Bulgaria remain the main players shaping prices and supplying the MENA region?
- Türkiye: importer, processor, exporter or a new grain hub between the Black Sea and the Middle East?
- EU: harvest, regulatory policy, competition and demand.
- North and South America: will the United States, Canada and Argentina take over part of the Black Sea markets?
- MENA / Asia: what matters more to buyers today — price, origin or secure delivery?
On September 24–25, AgroFoodSummit at Hilton Mersin in Türkiye will bring together participants from more than 25 countries to turn changes into new contracts and opportunities.

In some countries, harvests are falling short of expectations, while others are becoming increasingly dependent on imports, and traditional trade flows are changing under the influence of weather, logistics and demand from the largest consumers. Ukraine is entering the new season with a substantial supply of peas: 779.02 thousand tonnes have already been harvested.
