At the beginning of the season, Ukraine reduced rapeseed exports to the European Union but significantly increased supplies of rapeseed oil.
This is according to European Commission data, APK-Inform reports.
In the first 13 weeks of the 2026/27 marketing year (1 July–27 September), Ukraine supplied 336.05 thousand tonnes of rapeseed to the EU, down 44% compared with the same period last year (599.90 thousand tonnes).
At the same time, Ukraine’s share of total supplies declined from 59.21% to 38.56%, although the country remains the largest exporter of rapeseed to the European Union. It is also noted that Australia increased supplies by 35.2% to 185.12 thousand tonnes (21.24%), while Canada shipped 121.7 thousand tonnes (13.96%), compared with less than 0.1 tonnes last year. Total EU rapeseed imports in the first 13 weeks of the season declined by 14%, from 1.01 million tonnes a year earlier to 871.54 thousand tonnes.
Meanwhile, EU imports of rapeseed oil during this period increased by 74.1% to 128.04 thousand tonnes, from 73.56 thousand tonnes in the 2025/26 marketing year, while Ukraine increased its supplies 2.2-fold to 96.82 thousand tonnes, compared with 44.58 thousand tonnes last year. Ukraine’s share of imports of this product rose from 60.6% to 75.61%.
EU imports of rapeseed meal, by contrast, declined by 48.7% to 92.75 thousand tonnes from 180.64 thousand tonnes, while supplies from Ukraine increased by 87.1% to 63.65 thousand tonnes, with Ukraine’s share rising to 68.63% from 18.84%.
