Participants of AgroFoodSummit, which took place in Mersin, Türkiye, at the end of September and was organised by the Ukrainian Pulses and Soybean Association, visited Arbel, one of the largest exporters and processors of pulses. Visitors saw how products are made — from raw materials through processing and preparation for shipment to international markets.

Arbel Group (Arbel Pulse Grain Industry & Trade S.A.) is one of the world’s largest producers, processors and exporters of pulses, cereals and pasta. The company’s main production complex is located in Mersin.

The processing plant covers 100,000 m² and processes 4 thousand tonnes of raw materials per day. The facility is equipped with modern lines for cleaning, dehulling, grading and sorting pulses.

The plant provides a full processing cycle — from cleaning and grading to the packaging of ready-to-eat products:

  • Pulses: red and green lentils (the company is one of the world leaders in lentil dehulling and splitting), chickpeas, beans and peas.
  • Cereals: traditional Turkish bulgur in various grinds, rice and couscous.
  • Pasta and flour: the company owns the well-known Arbella Pasta brand, as well as production lines for semolina and innovative chickpea and lentil pasta.

Arbel Group products are exported to more than 100 countries worldwide.

The business visit to Arbel provided AgroFoodSummit participants with a unique opportunity to see large-scale food production and continue networking that began during the business programme of the conference.
