El Niño Opens a Window of Opportunity for Ukrainian Grain Exports

Grain stocks in Ukraine exceed last year’s level by 4 million tonnes

Ukraine sowed more corn than last year

The Ukrainian corn market is gaining momentum amid renewed purchases by European Union countries, which are looking for stable volumes. At the same time, limited stocks and reduced acreage in leading producing countries are creating the potential for a shortage on the global market.

When forecasting grain prices, market participants now take into account not only weather conditions and the balance of supply and demand, but also the geopolitical situation. The military conflict in the Middle East and the threat of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz may have long-term consequences for the global grain market.

Soil herbicides on corn are a key aspect in the system of weed protection. However, the use of insurance products is equally important: firstly, the base herbicide may not always provide 100% effectiveness due to natural and other reasons, and secondly, to control subsequent waves of weed germination.
