Ukraine sowed more corn than last year

The late spring crops sowing campaign is in its final stage, and the sowing rate is gradually decreasing.
This is reported by the association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB).
Experts note that last week 1.7 mln ha of various types of grain and industrial crops were sown, and during the previous week - 2.7 mln ha.
As of May 25, 2026, the situation with the main crops that are currently being actively sown is as follows:
- Corn - 4.2 mln ha sown, which is 94% of the forecasted acreage. In the two previous years, this figure was 99%;
- sunflower - 4.3 mln ha (87% of the forecasted acreage). In the two previous years, the figure was 95%;
- Soybeans - 1.7 mln ha (85% of the forecasted acreage). In the two previous years - 95%."
«We can already state that this year we have larger corn acreage. Although the sowing campaign has not yet been completed, the figure of 4.2 million hectares has already been recorded,» the UCAB emphasizes.
It is expected that next week this atypical sowing campaign can be considered completed, experts summarize.
