The structure of egg production in Ukraine in 2025 is shifting in favor of the industrial segment, which is gradually increasing its market share.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club.
Total egg production for the year amounted to 11,434 million eggs. This is 0.5% less than in 2024 and 13% below the average for the past five years.
At the same time, industrial enterprises are demonstrating stability and increasing production. In 2025, their share reached 54%, while production volumes amounted to 6,085 million eggs.
By contrast, households reduced production to 5,349 million eggs, compared with 5,531 million a year earlier, bringing their share down to 46%.
The decline in the household segment is explained by high feed costs, limited financial resources, and general economic difficulties.
Despite this, the industry is actively adapting to the challenges. Large producers are introducing modern management systems, automating processes, and undergoing certification, which allows them to maintain stable production volumes.
Exports remain an important market driver. In 2025, shipments of chicken eggs abroad increased by 77% and reached 137.5 thousand tonnes. The main destination remains the European Union, which accounts for 73.3% of exports. Another 12.7% is supplied to other European countries, 8% to the Middle East, 3.2% to Southeast Asia, and 2.8% to other regions.
Exports of egg products are also showing positive dynamics. In 2025, they amounted to 7.8 thousand tonnes, which is 3% more than a year earlier. At the same time, 95.3% of these products are shipped to EU countries.
Overall, Ukraine’s egg industry remains resilient despite difficult economic conditions, while producers continue to invest in product quality and compliance with international standards.

Ukraine can help the European Union move from responding to food crises around the world to finding ways to resolve them.

Enterprises accredited to export products to the European Union produce 83% of poultry meat and 75% of table eggs in Ukraine.

Production of cereal crops has declined significantly, driving up prices for staple cereals.

Ukrainian farmers are reducing the areas sown with major cereal crops for several reasons. In particular, less barley has been planted due to weather conditions that caused crop losses. At the same time, the area under peas is increasing, although it remains 20 thousand hectares smaller than last year.
