Sobolev: The priority of the agricultural sector is not production volumes, but production of value-added goods

Ukraine should focus not on increasing the volume of agricultural products exported to the EU, but on producing value-added goods that can be exported beyond the EU and help feed global markets.

This was emphasized by Ukraine’s Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, Oleksii Sobolev, during Grain Ukraine 2026.

«Ukraine needs substantial investment in value creation and in processing a larger share of its raw materials. From the perspective of logistics and the domestic market, Ukraine does not consume everything it produces. Therefore, I believe this is how we can cooperate with the EU: by making Ukraine more technologically advanced, increasing processing capacities, and expanding the production of value-added goods for the benefit of both Ukraine and the European Union,» Oleksii Sobolev said.
