There are ingredients that create this flavour. Someone makes honey, someone produces meat, someone makes cheese. This is how we came to the idea that we also want to feature on the map the craft producers working in these regions.
Participants of the CraftUP Ukraine educational and grant project will be able to present their products and stories on Foodture Ukraine — Ukraine’s living map of flavours.
This was reported by AgroPortal.ua, the online publication and organiser of the CraftUP Ukraine project.
The interactive map will feature three types of geotags: local recipes, memories associated with them, and craft producers operating in a particular region.
«We want to open the drawers, take out the notebooks with recipes stored there and make them accessible to everyone. To preserve flavours and document how cuisine is changing. Our goal is to bring together culinary memories, living recipes and local producers in one place. To discover the country through flavours and dive together into warm memories,» the Foodture Ukraine website states.
While working on the project, its creators, Maryna Bura and Tetiana Saturmina, realised that the gastronomic history of a region cannot be told through recipes and memories alone. It is also important to showcase the people who are creating local products today.

Particular attention is planned to be given to small local producers, information about whom is often difficult to find online. Some of them do not have their own websites and are represented only by pages on social media.
We realised that we wanted to tell the stories of such home-based producers in greater detail: why they make a particular product and how they came to do it. In addition, many businesses have now been relocated from one area to another because of the war. For them, this is an opportunity to tell more about themselves, find an audience in a new location and showcase their product.
