Enemy Destroys Food Warehouses and Slaughterhouse in Odesa Region

This was reported by Ihor Kapitan, owner of the company and a deputy of the Odesa Regional Council, in a comment to Bessarabia INFORM.

According to him, on 21 October, a recently built slaughterhouse was completely destroyed, along with storage facilities containing butter, meat and fish, as well as a 1.2 MW solar substation that had been installed on credit just two months earlier.

«It was the most modern slaughterhouse in Odesa Region, certified under HACCP, Halal and ISO 9000 standards. A building worth $1.5 million was destroyed, along with equipment worth $1 million, 200 tonnes of butter, 50 tonnes of meat, 20 tonnes of fish and 40 tonnes of cottage cheese… with a total value of UAH 143 million,» the businessman said.

According to him, the building cannot be repaired.

«The slaughtering facility, cold storage facilities and all the stocks the company had in circulation — everything has been destroyed. Tenders for the supply of our products to schools and kindergartens are now in question,» Ihor Kapitan said.

The company’s owner does not yet have a clear vision of what to do next. He is currently assessing the losses together with specialists. This was already the fourth attack on Ihor Kapitan’s assets, and he has not received any compensation from the state. In addition, the businessman still has to repay the loan for the recently installed solar power facility.
