Agrofirm Olhopil in Vinnytsia Region has completed the sowing of winter crops for the 2027 harvest. A total of 1,497 hectares was allocated to winter wheat and 155 hectares to winter barley. The farm also established a demonstration trial plot to test 82 wheat varieties of Ukrainian and foreign breeding.
This was reported by the company’s press service.
The demonstration field will make it possible to compare the productivity and adaptability of the varieties under the conditions of Southern Podillia. In particular, yield, winter hardiness, drought resistance, disease resistance and grain quality will be assessed.
The trial plot features varieties developed by DSV, RAGT, Limagrain, KWS, Saatbau and Nordic Seed, as well as by Ukrainian research institutions of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NAAS), together with the farm’s own seed material.
According to Pavlo Kalenych, Director of Agrofirm Olhopil, the trial results will help identify the varieties best suited to the region’s climatic conditions and select promising options for production.
The farm will now focus on crop care and preparing the plants for overwintering.
