Ukraine Establishes Business Council to Develop Cooperation with African Markets
Ukrainian businesses have established the Ukraine-Africa Business Council (UAfrica Business Council) to expand export opportunities and strengthen their presence in African markets.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, the cross-sector platform is intended to become a driver of long-term economic partnership and systematic business integration in the region.
The founding meeting of the council took place on May 25, Africa Day.
«The platform will operate as a shared space for businesses, government institutions, industry associations, and educational organizations. Key areas of activity include the development of trade and logistics routes, organization of business missions and B2B contacts, support for investment and infrastructure projects, as well as partnerships in education, science, and finance.The Council will combine economic and humanitarian cooperation — from implementing projects related to agricultural product supplies and the development of local agricultural infrastructure to training African specialists and supporting educational, medical, and social initiatives,» the ministry stated.
«The establishment of the UAfrica Business Council is a logical stage in the development of our cooperation. The main task now is to transform political dialogue into real investment projects and build sustainable ties through joint production initiatives, logistics solutions, technological partnerships, and educational programs,»said Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Denys Bashlyk.
According to him, Africa is currently one of the world’s most dynamic regions — a continent of rapid growth and enormous potential for investment and mutually beneficial partnership. For Ukraine, African countries represent promising export markets and strategic partners in shaping a new architecture of international economic cooperation.
Representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Science, the banking sector, agribusiness, universities, and leading Ukrainian companies are involved in the platform’s activities.
