In recent years, Ukraine’s berry sector has faced significant fluctuations in export prices, depreciation of the hryvnia and rising resource costs.

This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by the Berries of Ukraine Association for 2020–2026.

Experts found that the export price of frozen raspberries in 2026 was 11% higher in euro terms than in 2021, but after adjusting for inflation, it remained 9% lower. The euro-to-hryvnia exchange rate has risen by 67% since 2020, significantly affecting export revenues expressed in hryvnias.

At the same time, between 2021 and 2026, the average wage increased by 109%, while the price of diesel fuel almost tripled.

«According to the model estimate, the cost of maintaining 1 hectare of raspberries doubled, assuming unchanged input requirements. Labour costs made the largest contribution to the increase,» the experts calculated.

They added that, after adjusting for inflation, costs increased by 12%, while the real export price of raspberries remained below the 2021 level.
