The document serves as a strategic framework and a step-by-step plan outlining the direction in which Ukraine’s dairy sector should move on its path toward European integration. The goal of the document is to bring Ukrainian dairy products to the European market and ensure the sustainable development of the industry. The Roadmap was developed by industry associations, including the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine, in partnership with government bodies and with the support of international donors from Switzerland and the Netherlands.

This was reported by an AgroPortal.ua correspondent.

According to Vadym Chaharovskyi, Chairman of the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine, work on the Roadmap for the European Integration of Ukraine’s Dairy Sector lasted two years. For this purpose, a European Integration Committee was established, consisting of 11 working groups.

Specialists worked on shifting from the chaotic adaptation of EU requirements to a systematic and consistent transformation of European requirements in Ukraine.

Taras Vysotskyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine

A lot of hard work has been done, and now it's up to us to take what we've written and implement it. We will try to implement everything in three years. Today, about 70% of producers can already be full participants in the EU production and supply chains in terms of milk and dairy products quality. We will work together to ensure that the remaining 30% of producers can do so as well.

He added that if the dairy industry is a good example for other sectors, it would be good to have such Roadmaps in all sectors of the agro-industrial complex to have a holistic picture.

According to Gennadiy Chyzhykov, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the successful example of the Ukrainian dairy industry will be an impetus for other industries.

The European market is very important for Ukrainian producers, as it is both an expansion of export opportunities and a higher school of quality. After successfully passing the exams in this market, you can already compete in a large number of other markets. The potential of our dairy industry is very high: last year, we exported more than 131 thousand tons of dairy products worth more than $400 million. And I think that with such approaches, we can think about $1 billion in export revenue from dairy products. And it's not just about raw milk, but we are thinking together about added value, and this is a big challenge for us.
