450 Ukrainian Companies Authorised to Export Livestock Products to the EU

This was discussed during a meeting between Serhii Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, and David Pablo Nordlund Sierra, the new Counsellor for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food at the Embassy of Spain in Kyiv, the Ukrainian authority’s press service reports.

In particular, Ukrainian producers can supply honey, fish and fish products, poultry products and dairy products to the European market.

It is noted that during the meeting, the parties discussed the development of trade between Ukraine and Spain, new opportunities for businesses and the prompt resolution of issues arising during exports.

Food safety, veterinary medicine, plant quarantine and plant protection were identified as the main areas for further cooperation.

The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection noted that Ukraine and Spain already have systematic cooperation in place. The competent authorities of the two countries regularly exchange information on sanitary and phytosanitary measures, the epizootic situation, product certification and bilateral trade conditions.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the further expansion of agri-food trade. Ukrainian enterprises can already supply a wide range of products of animal origin to the EU, provided that they comply with the established requirements.

«It is important for us not only to maintain the level of cooperation already achieved but also to move forward — to respond quickly to issues arising in trade, maintain direct dialogue between the competent authorities and open up more opportunities for Ukrainian businesses,» Serhii Tkachuk noted.

Following the meeting, Ukraine and Spain confirmed their readiness to continue constructive cooperation and develop trade opportunities for businesses.
