This was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
State phytosanitary inspectors surveyed 84 production sites with a total area of 3,096 hectares. Of these, 2,885 hectares are located in the Ivano-Frankivsk district, and another 211 hectares are in the Kolomyia district.
During the inspections, experts confirmed the absence of regulated harmful organisms, in particular Tilletia controversa (dwarf wheat smut). This is one of the mandatory requirements of the phytosanitary protocol governing the export of Ukrainian barley to the People’s Republic of China.
The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection reminds that, for export to China, crops must be free of regulated pests throughout the entire growing season, and prior to shipment, this requirement is additionally verified during the inspection of the shipment.
Exporters planning to supply the 2026 harvest to the PRC, particularly corn, soybeans, peas, and wheat flour, are advised to contact the regional offices of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection well in advance to undergo the necessary phytosanitary procedures. The agency emphasizes that certain inspections are conducted only during specific growth stages of the crops, so it is important not to miss the deadlines for these inspections.
