EuroTier, the world's leading trade fair for livestock professionals, scheduled to take place on November 10–13, 2026, in Hanover, Germany, has announced the opening of applications for the Innovation Award EuroTier 2026. In addition, the exhibition features the Animal Welfare Award, which recognizes products setting new standards in animal welfare. The deadline for submitting applications for both awards is July 31, 2026.
The announcement was made by the organizers of EuroTier, the German Agricultural Society (DLG).
According to DLG, the awards focus on technologies that improve efficiency, enhance animal welfare and farm management, and deliver environmental and energy-efficiency benefits.
All companies exhibiting at EuroTier are eligible to submit innovations that are considered world premieres at the exhibition. Following a comprehensive technical evaluation, an independent panel of international experts appointed by DLG will determine which innovations receive the Innovation Award EuroTier Gold Medal or Silver Medal.
The Gold Medal is awarded to a product that represents a fundamentally new concept, enabling the introduction of a new process or a significant improvement to an existing one. Key evaluation criteria include practical relevance, impact on animal welfare, implications for farm management and labor, as well as environmental and energy performance. Improvements in working conditions and occupational safety are also taken into account.
The Silver Medal is awarded to a product that represents a significant advancement of an existing solution, resulting in a noticeable improvement in function or process. Key assessment factors include economic relevance in practical application, productivity and quality performance, as well as operational reliability. Positive effects on animal welfare and environmental and energy performance are also considered.
The Animal Welfare Award is presented by DLG in cooperation with the German Association of Practicing Veterinarians. To qualify, a product must first receive either a Gold or Silver Medal within the Innovation Award EuroTier competition. The decisive factors for this award are innovations that advance animal welfare and animal health. Particular attention is given to products that support species-appropriate behavior and actively promote animal health. Award-winning products must be fully functional by the time of the exhibition and must be commercially available no later than EuroTier 2028.
