Farmers Advised to Hold Back Grain Sales During Temporary Suspension of Port Exports
Over the past several days, only four to five vessels have been calling at Ukraine’s Black Sea ports due to Russian attacks, and vessel traffic was suspended on 22 July. The Ukrainian government is currently working to resolve the situation and will take all possible measures to ensure the continued stability of exports through the Black Sea ports.
This was stated by Taras Vysotskyi, Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, during a meeting with journalists.
Maritime shipments through the Ukrainian sea corridor have currently been suspended for several days. According to the minister, this temporary disruption is not expected to affect annual agricultural export volumes and is not considered critical.
«Every agricultural producer must make their own decision, but my recommendation during this challenging period is not to rush into selling grain. If circumstances allow and it is not critical for the business, I would advise producers to hold their grain and refrain from making quick sales. Overall, Ukraine currently has sufficient storage capacity for this year’s spring crop harvest, at least until the corn harvest begins in October,» Taras Vysotskyi said.
