Ukraine is expanding its share of wheat supplies to Egypt amid a weakening dominance of Russia in the market.

According to the report, during July–April of the 2025/26 marketing year, Egypt significantly increased its purchases of Ukrainian wheat. As a result, Ukraine’s share of Egypt’s total wheat imports rose to 23%, compared to 15% during the same period of the previous season. In volume terms, imports of Ukrainian wheat nearly doubled to 3.3 million tonnes, up from 1.7 million tonnes a year earlier.
«Egypt increased its wheat imports this season to 13.9 million tonnes, compared to 11.3 million tonnes during July–April of the previous season. At the same time, Ukraine expanded its market share and captured part of the market previously held by suppliers from Russia and France,» said Ahmed Elsebaie, CEO of Egyptian Swiss Group.
