Rud has Halal certificates for 28 types of ice cream. The company has certified its products, focusing on this requirement of consumers from most countries of the world.
This was stated by Larysa Zhygadlo, Chief Quality Officer of JSC "Rud", during the forum "Food Business - 2026: Safety, Quality, Innovation."
"It was the requirement for Halal certification in 2025 that was set for our company. Therefore, last year we received such a certificate from the Halal Global Ukraine Certification Center. In general, we have been working with Halal certification for 15 years and have passed various certification bodies, but the principles are all similar and are based on other standards that are implemented in production," said Larysa Zhygadlo.
She said that last year a native Palestinian came to the company for certification, the only discrepancy that the auditor of the certification body found was the lack of training of representatives of the company's quality department in the relevant body. The company has closed this discrepancy."
"For dairy producers, Halal certification requires two elements: disinfection of hands and equipment cannot be done with solutions containing alcohol. The certification body also checks the composition of all products that are certified. If, for example, there is a filler in the ice cream, they examine and analyze it in great detail. It is important that this stage should be done before labeling," says Larysa Zhygadlo.
She adds that having received the Halal certificate within a year, enterprises can also receive recertification for other products.
For reference: JSC "Rud" is a European-level company that is the leader of the Ukrainian ice cream market with a 30% share. The Company sources premium dairy raw materials from farms. The total production capacity allows processing over 35 thousand tons of milk annually. Rud TM is the largest exporter of ice cream in Ukraine."
