The largest number of new companies in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2026 was registered in the information technology sector — 902 enterprises, up 89% compared with January–March last year.
This is evidenced by the results of a YC.Market study by YouControl.
Wholesale trade ranked second in terms of new business registrations, with 860 new companies, down 6%. The real estate operations sector came third, with 690 companies, up 24%.
At the same time, agriculture showed the largest decline in the number of new companies among sectors with medium registration volumes. In particular, 360 enterprises were registered in the first quarter, down 24%.
Meanwhile, mechanical engineering, with 223 new companies, showed moderate growth of just over 6%, while the food industry, with 211 companies, declined by 8%.
The largest number of closed companies was recorded in the wholesale trade sector — 69 enterprises, although this is 30% less than in the first quarter of 2025. It was followed by real estate operations, with 55 closed companies, showing zero year-on-year dynamics, and construction, with 52 companies, where, by contrast, an increase of 58% was recorded.
«Among the sectors with a noticeable number of closures, agriculture also stands out, with 44 companies, unchanged from last year, as well as transport and logistics, with 42 companies, where the number of closed companies increased by as much as 147%. The food industry also showed growth, reaching 40 companies, up 21%, while healthcare institutions rose to 37, up 48%,» the analysts added.
