Ukraine’s Agricultural Exports Fall by 40%: Corn and Barley Lead the Decline

This is the lowest monthly figure since the beginning of the year, according to the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB).

Overall, in January–August 2026, exports amounted to 36.9 million tonnes. The main factor behind the decline in August was a reduction in grain shipments — from 2.67 million tonnes in July to 988,000 tonnes in August, or 2.7 times less. Thus, in just one month, Ukraine exported around 1.68 million tonnes less grain than in July. The greatest decline was recorded in corn and barley shipments:

• corn exports amounted to 305,700 tonnes, 4.2 times less than in the previous month;
• barley exports amounted to 68,700 tonnes, or 4.3 times less.

Wheat exports declined by 73% — from 1.06 million tonnes to 612,700 tonnes.

«At the same time, August saw a significant shift in the export structure in favour of oilseeds. Shipments increased from 88,500 tonnes in July to 329,500 tonnes in August, or almost 3.7 times. Rapeseed was the main driver: its exports increased from 19,400 tonnes to 292,600 tonnes,» UCAB added.

Exports of vegetable oils also declined in August — by 14% to 279,300 tonnes. Sunflower oil shipments fell by 43.1% to 147,100 tonnes, while rapeseed oil exports increased more than fourfold — from 23,700 tonnes to 95,400 tonnes. Soybean oil exports amounted to 36,600 tonnes, which is 16% less than in July.

Exports of oilseed meal and other solid residues from oilseed processing remained relatively stable at 187,200 tonnes, which is 4% less than in July. Sunflower meal shipments increased by 40% to 110,000 tonnes, while soybean meal exports fell by a third to 77,200 tonnes, the analysts concluded.
