In Ukraine, growers are lowering their selling prices for apples due to restrained demand and an increase in the supply of autumn varieties.
This was reported by EastFruit analysts.
Currently, high-quality apples are being sold at UAH 15–25/kg ($0.34–0.56/kg), which is on average 20% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.
Autumn varieties, which are not intended for long-term storage, are currently dominating sales, so producers are trying to sell them as quickly as possible.
New-crop apples in Ukraine are already being sold at prices that are on average 44% lower than at the end of August 2025.

Last year, Ukraine imported more than 4,000 tonnes of almonds, spending €23 million on them. These funds could have gone to local producers, as this nut can be successfully grown in Ukraine’s climate, especially given the state programmes supporting horticulture, which cover 16 regions.

The Swedish family-owned company Kiviks Musteri, spanning five generations, is located in one of the most picturesque and environmentally valuable regions of southern Sweden — Österlen. Its grounds are literally immersed in a landscape shaped by nature, with Hanö Bay, Stenshuvud National Park and the company’s own apple orchards nearby.

In autumn, there are plenty of apples in Zakarpattia. Sometimes, too many. They fall into the grass and lie beneath old trees. Until the 2000s, these apples could usually be sold for fairly good money. However, 15–20 years ago, people did not know what to do with their harvest. Old orchards began to decline, and local residents saw no point in taking care of the trees because they had stopped generating income. The work invested in them was no longer worthwhile, either financially or emotionally.
