Sobolev announced a fertilizer cost reimbursement program at Agro Ukraine Week

This was stated by Oleksiy Sobolev, Ukraine’s Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, during Agro Ukraine Week, which is taking place in Kyiv.

«We see that fertilizer prices have risen significantly, which is putting pressure on profit margins and creating a risk for the next season. Therefore, there is a need to provide farmers with non-repayable support. This will take the form of compensation amounting to 1,000 UAH per 7 metric tons of domestically produced compound fertilizers for every 100 hectares of cultivated land. The main condition is that the fertilizers must be produced in Ukraine», — notes Oleksiy Sobolev.

According to him, this decision helps address several issues: it allows farmers to resolve their fertilizer needs and ensures additional demand for Ukrainian industry. 

«In this way, we will support both the fields and the factories», — the minister noted.

Applications from farmers will begin to be accepted by the State Agency for Food and Agriculture (DAR) after the government adopts the relevant resolution.
