More than 197 million tonnes of cargo have been transported through the Ukrainian maritime corridor since it began operating in 2023.
This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba following a working visit to Odesa region.
He noted that 117 million tonnes of this cargo volume were grain.
«Despite constant Russian terror, Ukrainian ports continue to operate, ensure exports, support the economy, and perform a critically important function for many countries around the world,» Kuleba added.
During a meeting with the participation of port management, as well as representatives of the Odesa regional and city military administrations, participants discussed the protection of port infrastructure and port workers amid ongoing Russian attacks.
Kuleba emphasized that some ports are already demonstrating effective results in implementing protection systems. In particular, this includes the creation of mobile air defense fire groups and other solutions that help maintain terminal operations even during shelling. This experience is planned to be extended to other port facilities in the region.
