Ukrzaliznytsia Sends Record-Breaking Freight Train to Poland

On August 15, UZ Cargo Poland, in cooperation with LTG Cargo Polska, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. and JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, for the first time organised the handover of a 64-tank-car train running on the 1,435 mm gauge through the Dorohusk (Poland)–Yahodyn international railway crossing.

«64 cars. 818 metres. 5,100 tonnes gross. Two M62M 016 and M62M 005 locomotives. One international team. This operation was made possible thanks to close coordination and professional cooperation between railway workers from Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania — carriers, infrastructure operators, dispatch teams and border teams,» the company noted.

It is emphasised that organising the handover of trains of this configuration makes it possible to use the capacity of the Dorohusk–Yahodyn border crossing more efficiently, reduce the impact of technological constraints and create additional opportunities to increase freight traffic between Ukraine and the European Union.

For UZ Cargo Poland, this is a practical example of how international cooperation can turn complex logistical challenges into new opportunities for rail transport.

«One of our key objectives remains to increase freight volumes, improve the efficiency of border and railway infrastructure utilisation, and develop stable logistics routes that will connect Ukraine even more closely with the countries of the European Union,» UZ Cargo Poland emphasised.
