The security situation and the location of the processing facilities on the left bank do not allow UkrOliya to embark on large investment projects. Instead, the company has chosen a strategy of increasing production efficiency and pursuing intensive development by improving processes at its existing production facilities.
This was stated by Artem Skliarenko, Deputy Director for Strategic Planning at UkrOliya, during the BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV conference.
«Given that the processing market is currently oversupplied with capacity, there is no point in replicating the model and building another plant. Today, sunflower grown in Ukraine covers only 60% of the needs of processing capacities. Therefore, it is necessary to invest as much as possible in improving production efficiency and pursuing intensive development», Artem Skliarenko noted.
According to him, UkrOliya has small investment projects that make it possible to increase efficiency at a certain stage of production or in a certain sector.
«We set ourselves the task of finding ways to increase the oil yield percentage, process more raw materials on the same equipment and produce more oil, as well as reduce energy consumption. These are not long-term projects; their payback period is 2-3 years. However, such small projects form an investment model based on increasing efficiency within an intensive development model», Artem Skliarenko said.
He added that UkrOliya is currently the leader in Ukraine in the processing of high-oleic and organic sunflower and, accordingly, in the production of organic oils.
