The production cost of major crops will increase by 14-17% this year, including wheat by 14%, corn by 17%, and sunflower by 16%.

At the same time, Svitlana Lytvyn, head of the UCAB analytical department, adds that farmers will look for ways to optimize these costs, but the growth of production costs cannot be completely avoided.

Fuels and lubricants
Compared to the previous marketing year, diesel fuel increased in price by about 67%. The rapid rise in fuel costs due to the war in the Middle East will hit every industry hard. Ukrainian agriculture is no exception. Potentially, the increase in costs will not be so significant because most farms have purchased diesel for the spring sowing season. In addition, for winter crops, this impact will be even less noticeable, as pre-sowing and autumn sowing campaigns were held with more comfortable fuel prices.
Fertilizers
According to preliminary estimates, this year the growth of costs per 1 ha for this item will be 27-29%. This growth is mainly due to nitrogen fertilizers, the prices of which have soared by an average of 35%.
Land rent
The cost of land rent continues to grow in Ukraine. At present, it is on average 10% higher than a year ago. The main reasons are the desire of agrarians to preserve and increase their land banks in the face of competition for free land and inflationary processes in the country.
Salaries and wages
This expense item shows a 7% increase in expenses. The Ukrainian labor market has been experiencing a labor shortage for years. This trend is only intensifying amid the war, which leads to an increase in staff remuneration. At the same time, it affects the growth of the cost of providing services on the field.
Propaganda
The price increase for this cost item is more moderate and makes up an average of 5%, which is due to the increase in production costs, logistics costs, etc.
