Almost 90% of Ukrainian snail exports are bought by Spain

Ukrainian shellfish producers shipped 244 tons of products to foreign markets in the first quarter, which is 27.1% more than in the same period last year.
This is reported by Delo.ua with reference to the report of the State Customs Service.
The growth was also recorded in financial terms. The value of exported shellfish reached $662 thousand, which is 14.5% more than in January-March 2025.
The European Union remains the main consumer of Ukrainian shellfish. In the first quarter of 2026, the main buyers were:
- Spain — 87.22%;
- Italy — 4.8%;
- Germany — 3.3%.
At the same time, domestic demand for this category of goods has also increased. The volume of shellfish imports to Ukraine increased by 18.5% to 1.1 thousand tons. The company spent $5.5 million on the purchase of foreign products, up 41% year-on-year. The key suppliers to the Ukrainian market were China (39.7%), Peru (26.7%) and France (12.1%).
