Ukraine Increases Exports of Fermented Dairy Products and Ice Cream

In April 2026, Ukraine exported 10.75 thousand tonnes of dairy products worth $31.44 million.

According to the Association of Milk Producers, the physical volume of supplies decreased by 14%, while export revenue fell by 11% compared to March 2026. Compared with April last year, the figures were down by 12% and 17%, respectively.

«In January-April 2026, Ukraine exported 41.31 thousand tonnes (-5%) of dairy products worth $112.91 million (-14%),» experts clarified.

The main export categories in April were: condensed milk and cream — 26%, ice cream — 22%, cheese — 17%, butter — 15%, and casein — 6%.

Experts note that in April this year, Ukraine increased export volumes only for fermented dairy products — to 641 tonnes (+5%) — and ice cream — to 1.85 thousand tonnes (+35%) compared to March this year. Exports of other product categories declined over the past month.

Compared with April 2025, Ukraine increased the physical volume of exports of fermented dairy products (+51%), cheese — to 1.17 thousand tonnes (+2%), and ice cream (+21%). Supplies of other dairy products declined compared with the same period last year.

In April, Ukraine also increased export revenue from shipped batches of fermented dairy products to $976 thousand (+6%), whey to $2.14 million (+6%), and ice cream to $6.91 million (+41%) compared with March this year.

Compared with April last year, revenue increased for exported fermented dairy products (+38%), whey (+26%), cheese (+1%), and ice cream (+27%).

Imports of dairy products to Ukraine in the reporting month decreased to 5.61 thousand tonnes, which is 18% less than in March and 2% less than in April last year.

«In January-April 2026, Ukraine imported 22.57 thousand tonnes (+10%) of dairy products worth $111.27 million,» analysts noted.

Ukraine’s foreign trade balance in April 2026 was positive and amounted to $3.35 million.
