Ukraine and Portugal plan joint projects in the agricultural sector

Ukraine and Portugal are strengthening practical cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, Oleksandr Haidu, and the Minister of Agriculture and the Sea of the Portuguese Republic, Jose Manuel Fernandes, discussed this during a meeting, the press service of the committee reports.

It is noted that the focus of the dialogue is the development of trade, the restoration of logistics and the expansion of access of Ukrainian agricultural products to the markets of the European Union.

«The parties also discussed specific areas of cooperation: the development of processing and value creation; cooperation in the field of water resources and irrigation; access of Ukrainian agricultural products to third markets, in particular, African countries», — the parliament added.

In this context, it is important not only to provide political support but also to attract practical tools, such as investments, projects, and technologies.

«Portugal has considerable experience in adapting to the policies of the European Union, and it is important for us in the process of implementing EU regulations in Ukraine, mechanisms for supporting farmers, as well as updating standards and requirements», — said Alexander Gaidu.

As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing cooperation and readiness to implement the agreements reached.
