The port assets of Kernel sustained severe damage during the massive attacks on the port of Chornomorsk on July 11 and 12, 2026.

The attacks caused extensive destruction and forced the terminals to suspend operations, the holding company’s press service reported.

«As a result of the attacks, loading and unloading equipment, terminal infrastructure, and power supply lines were damaged. Grain silos and sunflower oil storage tanks were destroyed or damaged, resulting in approximately 45,000 tonnes of wheat and 9,000 tonnes of sunflower oil being blocked, spilled, or suffering a loss of quality,» the company stated.

Thanks to the safety measures in place, no employees were injured.

«A full technical assessment of the damage, the volume of grain lost, and the required capital expenditure is currently underway. The timeline for restoring the port facilities to operation will depend on the completion of recovery work and the findings of the engineering audit,» Kernel clarified.

The company emphasized that deliberate attacks on port infrastructure pose a direct threat not only to global food security but also to the safety of international shipping. In particular, vessels flying the flags of China and other countries that are in the port for loading at the time of the attacks are also put at risk.
