A Training Course on Sustainable Farming Is Now Open for Agricultural Professionals

A team of authors and developers has prepared a unique course consisting of 24 video lectures on the Prometheus platform in cooperation with the Royal Agricultural University (RAU, United Kingdom), Sumy National Agrarian University (SNAU, Ukraine), the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH, Switzerland) and the NGO «Green Agro Solutions» (Ukraine). The free online course «Sustainable Farming: Technologies, Profitability, Innovation» is now available on the Prometheus platform.

Ukraine is among the regions warming faster than the global average and outpacing worldwide temperature growth rates. According to scientific research, the global average temperature has already increased by more than 1°C, while in Ukraine the average temperature has risen locally by more than 3°C.

Climate change and water shortages raise the issue of the need for irrigation and the organization of additional moisture supply for farmers. Today, out of 31 million hectares of land in Ukraine, 18 million hectares are under water deficit, and 3 million hectares are critically under water deficit.

Odesa-based holding Tecom Agro Group plans to grow oil flax for the first time. With high yields and properly adjusted technology, flax can compete with sunflower. Moreover, the volume of flax processing is growing all the time, so this is a promising area.
