As part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Pioneer® seed brand of the international science and technology agricultural company Corteva Agriscience, the interactive exhibition «The Journey of Grain. 100 Years of Pioneer» was presented. The exhibition introduces visitors to the history of breeding, the role of farming, and the future of agriculture.
Founded a century ago by former U.S. Vice President Henry A. Wallace, Pioneer was the first company to launch the mass production of hybrid corn. This revolutionary innovation contributed to an almost 600% increase in average corn yields in the United States, becoming a true breakthrough in American agriculture and the agricultural economy.
This tradition continues today: Pioneer® is the No. 1 brand in the United States by market share in corn and soybeans and holds world record yield indicators for corn, soybeans and sorghum grown on drylands. Today, the company’s seeds are sold in more than 70 countries, meeting the needs of millions of farmers worldwide.
The history of Pioneer® in Ukraine began back in the 1950s, when the brand’s first corn hybrids reached Ukrainian fields. The modern stage of the company’s presence started in 1998 with the opening of a representative office in Kyiv and the launch of the first field trials of corn and sunflower hybrids. Today, the brand’s development is based on large-scale research and local breeding programs.
«Pioneer® has been the choice of Ukrainian farmers for many years — a symbol of innovation and trust. We work directly with farmers, ensuring fast feedback and comprehensive support. After the start of the full-scale invasion, the company restored supplies in less than two weeks and made a principled decision to cease operations in Russia and Belarus. We remain close to farmers and, together, shape the future of Ukraine’s agricultural sector,» said Oleksandr Dmytriiev, Business Leader of Corteva Agriscience in Ukraine.
«Pioneer® is one of the leaders in Ukraine’s seed market, with its position based on the continuous improvement of a portfolio that today includes more than 100 corn, sunflower and winter rapeseed hybrids for various technologies and cultivation purposes, as well as agronomic support directly on farms to help agricultural producers increase productivity and profitability,» emphasized Oleksandra Bielash, Marketing Manager at Corteva in Ukraine.
